This Christmas I Choose Jesus

whatsupwithchristi

Did you know there are 256 different names given to God in the Bible? It’s as if 1 name cannot describe how awesome he truly is. In Isaiah 9:6, it lists the names Jesus will be called when he comes: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

In the name Wonderful Counselor, the original translation of “wonderful” meant “beyond earthly understanding”. We serve an incredible God! As we come closer to this Christmas, let us remember in the middle of the craziness, to pause and remember how awesome our God truly is. He is a Mighty God who brought the universe into existence with just his voice. He is an Everlasting Father who wants us to spend eternity with him. So much that he sent his son Jesus on Christmas, to save the word from death itself. He’s the Prince of Peace because when Jesus came, he came to mend hearts and heal people. Not only physically but spiritually. In John 3:17, it says “He did not send his son to condemn the world, but to save the world through him”

Christmas has become almost just a marketing campaign for businesses it seems like. We get so caught up in the sales and gifts and events that we lose sight of what it’s really all about.

Maybe this Christmas, you’re hurting. You’ve lost someone you love or maybe your relationships seem to be falling apart. Maybe you’re living paycheck to paycheck and barely making it or your behind on your bills and you don’t know how or when you will ever catch up.

Make this Christmas special this year. Make this the year you say “You know what? I serve a God who is the Prince of Peace so I don’t need to stress. I serve a God who is a Wonderful Counselor so I can pour my heart out to him without feeling judged. I serve a God who is an Eternal Father who carries me through the hard times and carries me to the end so someday I can spend eternity with him. I serve a Mighty God who loves me so much, he sent his son in the most humble way possible, to be born in a born and sacrificed for my sin so that I didn’t have to pay that price myself. This Christmas, I choose Jesus Christ.”
